We believe that creativity thrives through diversity.

Our community is represented by students from 80 countries around the world, each bringing their own social and cultural perspectives. But the GSA is diverse not solely because of the international nature of our students’ community, but because of the diversity of our local students.

The School of Fine Art performs well in terms of socio-economic diversity and in 2020 exceeded its widening participation targets by 30%. All three of thE main Fine Art prizes at 2019 graduation went to students who had previously participated in the GSA’s widening participation programme.

The School works closely with a number of colleges in relation to articulation, and has a formal Associate Students’ partnership with Glasgow Clyde College. Progression from college to Painting and Printmaking, and Sculpture and Environmental Art, is particularly successful. 2019 saw the GSA’s second cohort of graduates from the Associate Students’ Scheme, with six of the 12 graduating students coming from the School of Fine Art.
